My Compound Butter business came to me by a quirk of fate. After a life changing experience a few years ago I found therapy through cooking. Cooking became my passion. At first I was just cooking for myself but quickly discovered this delicious food could be shared with family and friends. This sharing caught on quickly and I started providing meals and catering special events for them. Loved it! I was in the kitchen daily and discovered a way to create restaurant quality meals, quickly and simply. I made several flavours of Compound Butter and stored them in my freezer to have them readily on hand. When it was time to create a dish I simply sliced off a pat of one of the butters with a hot knife, let it come to room temperature and added it to my dish! My family and friends started referring to my butters as ‘Lindsay’s Secret Sauce’. Made me so proud!
Family and friends encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and introduce the Compound Butter logs to Niagara Region in 2015. Challenging but I found the venue I felt most comfortable with – The Market @ the Village, Niagara-on-the-Lake. A seasonal farmers’ market. A wonderful decision – so much so I continue to join the group each season. My butters are embraced not only for their delicious taste and ease of use but for their unique rustic packaging too! The community embraced me and I am embracing my community. Sourcing my products and ingredients locally wherever possible.
I love participating in Artisanal Events, Markets and Meet the Maker Tastings throughout the year. It gives me so much pleasure introducing Compound Butters to busy Moms and Dads who do not have the time to prepare flavourable meals and to people who want to entertain with delightful dishes without spending all their time in the kitchen. In 2017 I was honoured to have been selected as a finalist for the Outstanding New Business Award at the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce – Niagara Business Achievement Awards. And, in addition I won 2nd prize with The Pen’s Mind Your Own Business contest. Enjoyed operating a kiosk at The Pen for two weeks.

Love the blue cheese butter on my grilled portobello mushroom. Roasted garlic butter on crusty bread. Done – delicious meal!
Lindsay, your Thyme Butter sure makes my Roasted Mushrooms with Garlic & Thyme recipe easy to prepare. With the leftover mushrooms I’ll make mushroom soup and again use your delicious butter. Thyme is subtle and compliments the mushrooms perfectly without overpowering them. Thanks Lindsay, great job!
As a busy Mom I find it difficult to make quick but delicious meals. With Lindsay’s butter all I have to do is add some with whatever I’m making and it turns into restaurant quality food I make for my family in a very tight schedule.
I just discovered your selection of flavoured butters – absolutely delicious with intense flavours and perfect for meat and veg, though I must say I used a lot on crackers too. Great idea and really handy to have them ready to use from the freezer. The sweet garlic was to die for but I’m still looking forward to sampling the entire offerings!
Have tried your 4 butter rolls and enjoyed it very much. The butter texture is very creamy and the flavours were excellent. Looking forward to buying the butter and it will be delicious for entertaining. Thank you for a great and different product.
